Evaluation of Kjeldahl Digestion Method
The evaluation of the Kjeldahl digestion method was investigated by comparing measured values of total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium using three salt and catalyst mixture in Standard Kjeldahl digestion method and Salicylic acid Modification method with certified values of plant material as well as comparison was made for determination of total nitrogen from steam distillation method verses...
متن کاملTotal protein determined in human breast milk by use of coomassie brilliant blue and centrifugal analysis.
This simple method of centrifugal analysis for total protein in human breast milk is based on the change in the wavelength of the absorbance maximum of Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250 when the dye is bound to protein. Within-run and between-day CVs were 3.8% and 4.8%, respectively. Compared with a micro-Kjeldahl method for determination of total nitrogen, the coefficient of correlation was 0.99.
متن کاملDetermination of total nitrogen in aqueous samples using persulfate digestion
Determination of total nitrogen in aqueous samples after potassium persulfate digestion compared favorably in both precision and nitrogen recovery with determinations obtained using Kjeldahl digestion. The determination of total nitrogen (TN = inorganic and organic fixed nitrogen) has largely depended either on acid Kjeldahl digestion ( cf. Strickland and Parsons 1972) or on photo-oxidation (Ar...
متن کاملRapid Determination of Nitrogen in Cane Leaves
An evaluation of a new non-destructive technique for the determination of total nitrogen in cane leaves using a Technicon infra-red reflectance analyzer is described. More than 200 leaf samples were analysed and the results indicated that a nitrogen content between 1 and 3% can be accurately determined in less than a minute. Regression analysis indicated that the N values determined by infra-re...
متن کاملThe estimation of total nitrogen using the Conway micro-diffusion cell.
The use of the microdiffusion unit for the determination of blood urea has been described by Conway and O'Malley (1942). Recovery of urea added to blood when estin;ated by this method is precisely quantitative as compared with a 98 to 99% recovery given by the aeration method (Kay and Sheehan, 1934). The method has been found very useful for routine laboratory determinations, especially when de...
